Car Wash the Fun way

There was a time when washing cars was a time consuming and boring activity. For those who could not bear to indulge in this work, the neighborhood odd job man or the automated car wash was the answer. These options did not yield satisfactory results as the odd job man worked at the task as an ‘odd job’ while the early car washes caused more damage to the car paint because of the use of stiff brushes. Car washes since those early contraptions of the 1950s have evolved significantly. Nowadays, carwashes come in three basic forms, namely, self service type, ‘In bay’ type and the Tunnel type. Better technology has produced better quality brushes and detergents which no longer damage the car exterior. In a self service car wash the driver pays for using the service by putting money in a slot machine. In this form of car wash, the amount of coins inserted in the slot machine limits the time that each driver can use a particular appliance which he has to personally use. In the ‘In bay’ variety, the car remains stationery and the brushes, jets and dryers move over the car. In a tunnel system the car moves on a conveyor belt, on either side of which, are fitted the various brushes, water jets and dryers. Car washing supplies

A popular variation of an automated car wash are the Bikini Car wash, a sure fire crowd puller. Bikini clad girls do their thing and wash the cars for your viewing pleasure, a sure fire financial success. Hollywood played an important part in popularizing this ‘art form’ through the movie ‘Bikini Carwash Company’. Bikini carwash events are also organized to raise funds for a social cause. So have carwashes come a long way from its humble beginnings of a chore to a social event? You can say that again!

Protect any parts you do not want to wax with masking tape. Using a damp sponge, apply the car wax to the car. Small circles work best for older cars, and long strokes work best for new cars with the newer types of finish that are now on the market. Avoid letting wax settle into the seams of the car, and do not let wax get onto any dull plastic your car may have on its exterior. Follow the same path across the car to buff off the excess wax, using a lint free soft towel.

Beginning on one side of the car, rub on the car wax with small circular motions. If you start on one side, work all the way around your car using the same motions, reapplying wax to the sponge when needed. Take care to avoid the cracks between the hood, doors and trunk. If you get some wax in these seams, you can use a soft bristle toothbrush to gently remove it.

Wax will be dry where you began once you have worked around the entire car.

In order to get the soapy water from the bucket onto your car, you will need a good sponge. Some folks like natural sponges, while others prefer a synthetic sponge. Both are suitable, and can be purchased at most grocery stores. I have seen recommendations for two separate sponges to be used, one for the wheels and one for the chassis, if you would like.

After you have rinsed the soap off of your car, it is a good idea to dry the outside of the windows, at least.

A soft pad for applying the wax and a soft clean rag for removing the wax are your only requirements, in addition to the wax. Apply the car wax in small circular patterns. Buff the wax off with your clean rag after the waxed areas look hazy. Shake out the cloth a lot to avoid wax build up.

Use the opportunity to inspect your car, as you wash and put on car wax.

This layer helps in covering minor scratches and stone chips by making them less visible. Car wax also reduces corrosion due to water as it forms a seal on the pain through which water cannot enter. Car wax has to be reapplied regularly and is not permanent. The life of a good quality car wax is 3 to 4 months thus there is a need for reapplication every 3 months.

IT is advisable that before waxing a car it should be buffered for any irregularities and to remove scratches, after which the wax should be applied, which is repeated every three months.

The car can be protected with car wax from the elements to keep it from fading. Did you ever see a car that was old and all faded out? It never would have ended up looking so bad if someone had kept it up with car wax. The car needs to be protected from outside elements to keep the finish from fading and oxidizing.

So what is the deal on car wax? Is car wax the same thing as polish? You will have to be careful when you go out to buy a car wax for your car. Car wax is not the same thing as polish.

Therefore, when the car wax is used then the coat gets thicker which provides the protection to the car color. This also saves the vehicle from the acid rain. However, for ensuring the actual protection of the car, use of car wax on regular basis is very important.

Recently a research study has been conducted in Florida on acid rain. This acid rain is very harmful for the cars.

Usually, I like to wash my car about once per week. I tend to save change in one of the compartments of my car and use the change I accumulate at the self-serve car wash. During most weeks, I like to wash the car at some point and I usually apply car polish on Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Valentine’s Day. It keeps my car looking fresh and clean and helps prevent corrosion.

Waxing a car is a relatively simple process.
